Description
From 2025 R1, SpaceClaim is a separate download in the Ansys Download Center. Neither the Ansys unified installer nor the Discovery installer includes it. This article is for anyone who needs to install SpaceClaim 2025 R1 or later.
Installing a primary package such as Structures does not install SpaceClaim. The SpaceClaim package is listed under "Add-On Packages" and contains everything you need to install SpaceClaim in a single download.
Solution
Before You Start
Installing the software does not license it. If your licensing is not set up yet, follow Ansys Download & Installation Guide (Start Here!) before launching SpaceClaim.
Skip This Download If…
- You are installing Ansys Speos or Material Designer. Installing either one also installs and configures SpaceClaim, so you do not need this separate download.
- You are installing SpaceClaim for Thermal Desktop. The TD Direct link requires SpaceClaim 2024 R2, which you download from the Thermal Desktop page of the Download Center. Follow HOW TO - Download & Install Ansys Thermal Desktop instead.
1. Download the SpaceClaim Package
- Go to the Ansys Download Center at download.ansys.com and sign in with your Ansys account.
- In the left menu, select Current Release.
- Set Select Release to your release, for example 2026 R1.
Note: Releases 2024 R2 and older are available at download.ansys.com/archivedReleases. - Set Select Operating System to match the computer you are installing on, for example Windows x64.
- Expand Add-On Packages and find the "SpaceClaim" section.
- In the "SpaceClaim" section, click Full Package.
- Save the package to a local drive on the computer where you will install SpaceClaim.
Note: Do not download, extract, or run the installer from a network share, a mapped drive, or over a VPN connection. This is a common cause of extraction and installation failures. To check a download, see HOW TO - Verify the Integrity of Installation Files.
2. Install SpaceClaim
- Extract the
.zipfile to a new folder. - Right-click
setup.exeand select Run as administrator.
3. Verify It Worked
- Open SpaceClaim from the Windows Start menu and check that it opens.
Note: To open geometry in SpaceClaim from Workbench, you must also select SpaceClaim in the CAD Configuration Manager after you install it. See ERROR - SpaceClaim not Integrated in Workbench 2025R1.
