Description

The Ansys Download Center organizes each release into packages by product family. Ansys Discovery has its own package, Discovery (Full Package), which contains everything you need to install Discovery in a single download.

The "Discovery" column on the Download Center also lists SDZ Reader and Sample Addins. These are separate downloads. To install Discovery, use Discovery (Full Package).

Solution

Download the Discovery Package

1. Go to the Ansys Download Center at download.ansys.com and sign in with your Ansys account.
2. In the left menu, click Current Release.
   
   Note: For 2024 R2 and older, go to the archived releases page instead.
3. Set the drop-down menus to the values in the table below.

4. Scroll down to the "Primary Packages (Commercial & Academic Packages)" section.
5. In the "Discovery" column, click Discovery (Full Package).
6. Save the package to a local drive on the computer where you will install Discovery.
   
   Note: Do not download, extract, or run the installer from a network share, a mapped drive, or across a VPN connection. This is a common cause of extraction and installation failures. To check your downloaded files, see HOW TO - Verify the Integrity of Installation Files.

Run the Installer

1. Extract the package to a new folder.
2. In that folder, right-click setup.exe and select Run as administrator.

Note: SpaceClaim is not included in the Discovery installation. If you also need SpaceClaim, see HOW TO - Download Ansys SpaceClaim.

Note: Installing the software does not license it. If your licensing is not set up yet, follow the Ansys Download & Installation Guide (Start Here!) before you launch Discovery.
