ERROR - No Shared Web license found that enables feature aice_pak (Icepak Classic)

                          Authored by Carlos Rodriguez October 12th, 2026 7 views 0 likes KB3972520

On a machine using Ansys Shared Web Licensing, Icepak fails to launch with a License Error dialog similar to the following:

ANSYS LICENSE MANAGER ERROR:Shared Web checkout call to LicensingSettingsUtility for 1 tasks of feature aice_pak failed:

Error Detail: No product is available that satisfies the feature request.
Requested feature(s) that could not be satisfied:
                           aice_pak (1 needed)

                          Status code: 404

                          Help URL: https://laas.ansys.com/v1/error/productsnotfound

                          Diagnostic Detail: FeatureNotFoundError; Please talk to your administrator to obtain more licenses;

Failed to get license ice-pak: return code 0

The dialog may also include the same 404 failure for feature electronics3d_gui (Failed to get license ice-pak-gui3d: return code 0), or this shorter message:

ANSYS LICENSE MANAGER ERROR:No Shared Web license found that enables feature aice_pak.

The error appears even when Licensing Settings (Web Licensing > Products) shows Ansys Electronics Enterprise - Shared Web with a license available.

                          Software & Version

Icepak 2024 R2, Windows, Shared Web Licensing. This example comes from 2024 R2, but the issue may also affect other versions.

                          Description/Cause

The Icepak application included in the main Ansys installation package is Icepak Classic, which requests the legacy aice_pak license feature. Icepak Classic is not supported by Shared Web Licensing. With Shared Web Licensing, Icepak runs inside Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT Icepak), which is licensed through the Ansys Electronics Enterprise - Shared Web product.

                          Solution

                          1. Confirm which Icepak is being launched. If it is the standalone Icepak application installed with the main Ansys products package, it is Icepak Classic and will not check out a Shared Web license.
                          2. Download the Ansys Electronics Desktop installation package for the same release (for 2024 R2 on Windows: ELECTRONICS_2024R2_WINX64). Follow the Ansys Download & Installation Guide (Start Here!) for download and install steps.
                          3. Extract the package, right-click the setup file, select Run as Administrator, and complete the installation.
                          4. Launch Ansys Electronics Desktop and create or open an Icepak design within it. This checks out the Ansys Electronics Enterprise - Shared Web license.
                          5. If Electronics Desktop instead reports Status code: 400 with InsufficientQuantityOfProducts for feature electronics_desktop, all Electronics Enterprise seats are currently in use. Open Licensing Settings > Web Licensing > Products, click the refresh icon, and confirm the product shows at least 1 available before launching again. See HOW TO - View License Usage & Status.

For the list of products supported by Shared Web Licensing, see INFO - Ansys Shared Web Licensing Overview. For Icepak Classic license errors on FlexNet license servers, see ERROR - Capability ANSYS IcePak does not exist in the ANSYS licensing pool.
