HOW TO - Test & Fix 3rd Party Software Port Conflicts with License Manager

Description
Ansys License Manager communicates with the client software over ports 1055, 2325 and the dynamic vendor daemon port. If other software installed on the same computer as the License Manager is using any of these ports, it will conflict with Ansys and one or both applications will not start or work properly. We most often see this with other software that is also based on a the FlexNet license manager and by default uses port 1055 (ie. SolidWorks, Matlab, Creo, NX). In this scenario, both programs cannot successfully use the same port(s) simultaneously and ports for one of the applications will need to be changed.
Solution
- Open the resource monitor on the Ansys License Server computer.
- In the networking tab, sort by port.
- Review what applications are using port 1055, 2325 using the method shown in the picture to identify what applications are using what ports.
Note
The Vendor Daemon port only needs to be checked if you have manually specified a custom port for service. This is because, by default, it's dynamic and will find and use an empty and different port every time the License Manager is started.
- If you find other applications are using the same ports as Ansys, you must either change the port(s) that the other software is using or change the port that Ansys is using. After doing so, try to start the license manager again.
