Description
This article will show you how to quickly identify what version your license server is running.
Important
If you are attempting to run client software versions prior to 2020R1, and don't have the same or newer version license manager, it will not work and you will need to upgrade the Ansys License Server software, in addition to having a valid license for that new version.
Solution
Via the License Server
- Windows Search > Search for ANSYS License Management Center > Right click and choose More > select Run as Administrator.
- License Manager Version is displayed as seen below:
Via the Client Computer
- The computer you are running this from must have either the client or license server software installed.
- Copy, paste and execute the following command in a command prompt after replacing the green text with your information.

Client Version 2020 R2 and Below*: "C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\Licensing\winx64\ansysli_util.exe" -statli 2325@YourLicenseServerName
Client Version 2021 R1 and Above**: "C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\vXXX\licensingclient\winx64\ansysli_util.exe" -statli 2325@YourLicenseServerName *Will return incorrect license server version if the License Server is running 2021 R1 **Command does not work if the License Server is running 2021 R1 |
